From vision to reality! Building a program that builds Champions!
Jeff Bray began thinking about the idea of creating an elite vault club beginning in the fall of 2009, mainly due to the fact that his son did not have access to poles and a pole vault pit to train on outside of the UIL track season. Coach Bray was driving his son as far as 50 miles one way to participate in the nearest club and have access to equipment. For several years, Jeff kicked around the idea to start his own club, and generate money to buy poles so kids in Central Texas would have a place to jump and equipment to use. The idea was to build a club that everyone could afford and to revive the vault in Central Texas as well as provide a means to poles and equipment that vaulters could afford. In December of 2012 that dream became a reality. Bob Richards, two time Olympic Gold Medalist in the pole vault, moved to Waco and the vision became a reality. Mr. Richards purchased a 300 acre ranch on the Brazos River in Waco, known as the Crossbar Ranch. Jeff's good friend and old training partner, Brandon Richards had an 8th grade son that vaulted at the school that Jeff was coaching at. Brandon convinced his father to dedicate one of his barns to create a vault facility. Beginning in December of 2012, Bob Richards agreed, and Jeff and Brandon began building the Zero G Elite Pole Vault Club with the gracious help of Bob Richards with the contribution of his "Barn" to be used as a vault arena. In 2016, after his son Riley graduated and chose Baylor University, Brandon decided to go to Baylor as the asst. pole vault coach to be able to coach his son and has been the vault coach there from 2017 to present. Brandon was most recently employed at Baylor Track as the multi-event coach. He has had a highly successful career while at Baylor. Brandon has gone on to coach an NCAA National Champion and Record holder while at Baylor, an many internationally elite male and female vaulters.
Coach Bray, with the addition of Coach Bill Farmer and Brandon Bray are now actively coaching in the club.
Beginning in the summer of 2021, Zero G found a new home at a site located at 5500 Bogey Lane. The Richards family decided to sell the crossbar ranch, and it was time to find a new site to relocate the club. With the gracious help of Debbie Hood and the Dwyer Family, the lease of the current facility became reality. Debbie was a key factor in the Founding of Zero G when she donated money to buy the first pole vault pit in 2012. She continues to be a foundation to keeping the club alive and Zero G is indebted to her gracious help and support! The new club facility is an outdoor training facility, located at the clubhouse of an old par 3 golf course in Waco. This state of the art facility will have 2 runways, and 2 pits for vaulters to train. During this time, Coach Bray decided to add his son, Brandon for private lessons. Brandon Bray is a Zero G alumni, and 4 time All-American as well as indoor(18'5')/outdoor(18'8 1/2") record holder at Texas Tech Brandon is the HS Centex record Holder(17'8 1/2").

The goal of Zero G is simple. We want to give serious kids a place where they can come to train and be involved in an elite environment designed to help them to achieve their best. We charge a minimal fee, mainly to cover maintenance and lease of the club facility, and purchase of pole inventory. Come by sometime and see for yourself. We think you will find a place that any vaulter would love to be.
